Hamilton Real Estate Agent Has Heart

A volunteer-based health charity, The Heart & Stroke Foundation leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke and reducing their impact through the advancement of research and its application, the promotion of healthy living and advocacy.

“Nearly 6,000 people in our area are hospitalized each year for heart disease and stroke related conditions and every seven minutes in Canada, someone dies from it,” says Pam Brown, Area Manager for the Hamilton Office of the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

The This House Has Heart program, which has already run successfully in areas such as Brantford, sees real estate companies or agents teaming up with the local Heart & Stroke Foundation office to promote awareness and raise funds. Every home listed by participating agents displays a rider on the sale sign that proudly announces This House Has Heart. When the property sells, the agent donates a portion of the commission to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

“Heart disease or stroke can have a real effect on a person’s quality of life,” says Bonner. “If we can help prevent the disease in the first place or improve the quality of life for people suffering from ongoing heart disease or stroke-related challenges, I think it is worth doing what we can.”
